Description:
The Company is responsible for developing, managing, constructing and operating the Songo Songo Gas to Electricity Project. Songas has a 250 km long pipeline that transports gas from Songo Songo Island to its plant in Ubungo and therefore looks to maintain strong relationships with communities influenced by this activity. The US$ 320 million project supplies about 40% of Tanzania’s electricity.

The role is responsible for Supporting and maintaining applications using database systems such as DB2, SQL, PostgrreSQL, MySQL and Access database, Websphere application and other business applications and Report development for various business applications.

The Application Support Assistant is expected to:

Design custom reports using reporting applications such as BIRT, COG NOS, Crystal, improve and maintain existing reports.

Provide support to Finance, Payroll, CMMS, IMS and other applications used in the organization. Work with Websphere and DB2 instances (Start, stop, planning, Implementation of changes, new fields, functions, release upgrades).

Establish the needs of users and monitoring user access and security. Control access permissions and privileges.

Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans.

Ensure that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly. Commission and install new applications and customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.

Update/alter established work flows in the implemented CMMS system.

Create new workflows to support additional functional area processes as they are transitioned to the CMMS system.

Define/Design configurations/customizations for user requirements in t~e CMMS system and other applications.

Implement user requirements and mapping those requirements in the CMMS system. Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information.

Perform other reasonable duties requested from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will most likely have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required.
• DBA experience (DB2, MS SQL, mySQL, etc) related to application server support is required, including database connectivity, backup/restore, troubleshooting application/databases issues as well as knowledge of replication, stored procedures and triggers.
• Experience in BIRT, COGNOS, Java and Crystal report designing.
• Knowledge and experience with Websphere Application server.
• Driven to learn, develop and deliver.
• Creative and tenacious approach to problem solving.
• Excited by new techrfology, willing to pick up and work with any system no matter how unfamiliar.
• Excellent at absorbing and learning new things.
• Delivers high quality work at short notice and to tight deadlines.
• Works effectively as /part of the Company team’, communicates positively at all levels both internally and externally.
• Recognises areas within the department where support is required and offers assistance.
