Ferrochrome, also known as charge chrome, is an essential ingredient in producing stainless and specialty steels. Ferrochrome increases mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

A dynamic professional is sought for the role of Resident Engineer: Mining.

Job Description

The successful candidate will undertake and co-ordinate project management, mechanical and electrical
maintenance of equipment, fabrication and construction in the mining area and services, including but not
limited to:
* Carrying all legal responsibilities of a 2.13.1 appointment * Developing and applying state-of-the-art maintenance systems for the Mine and good, efficient maintenance strategies * Managing projects and planning/preparing a CAPEX motivation, ie drafting financial motivation for Capital Projects * Maintaining and improving equipment availability and efficiencies and performing inspections to prevent failure of equipment * Planning and guiding on planned shutdowns * Assigning and controlling all administration and costs of the Department * Ensuring legal compliance by managing the safety aspects for all machinery installations on the Mine site and keeping records of all inspection and legal records as per MHS Act * Evaluating performance of personnel, being able to drive high performance within the area of responsibility.

Requirements:

* A National Higher Diploma/BTech and/or BSc Engineering or equivalent * A Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) * Registration with the ECSA * A minimum of 10 years’ experience in hard rock mining (underground) * Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act * Medical fitness * A driver’s licence.
