Construction Project Manager at Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation
The Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation (BMAF) is a Trust established in 2006, with aim to complement and supplement the national efforts to address HIV/AIDS pandemic, through health systems strengthening, especially Human Resource for Health (HRH). In the course of continuous and comprehensive health systems support, particularly to the rural communities;

Reporting Line Reports to the Director of Human Resource and Administration. Overall Responsibility:

Overall Responsibility:

Will have the overall responsibility of Planning, Coordinating and Monitoring infrastructure rehabilitation and/or construction project activities work undertaken •by BMAF, in improving working environment of health workers in rural located health facilities within District Councils. The role includes designing, implementation to completion stages and act as the primary contact person within BMAF for all project related matters.
She/he will be accountable 10 safeguard the interes’ts of the Foundation and take a leading role, by providing professional advice and gUidance to the BMAF Management Team.

Specific Responsibilities

+ Oversee the selection of all contracted parties in accordance to the project agreement and defined rules and regulation of the Foundation and the Development Partner(s)

+ Assist the Foundation in appointing the Team(s) of Archilect(s) and allied professionals who will be responsible for implementing the agreed project design.

+ Coordinate activities of all consultants and contractors that have entered into agreement with the Foundation including receipt of periodic reports and advice the Foundation accordingly.

+ Establish and maintain a project plan and schedule of activities for all consultants, to ensure project is completed on time and within budget.

+ Coordinate project inspection by all consultants for verifications to ensure adherence to contract scope, specifications and plans.

+ Take part in proposing contract disputes with technical solution, and recommend best course of action, depending on contract situation on the areas of his/her expertise.

+ In collaboration with the Grants Manager, control and monitor project finances to ensure maximum level of procedural and financial compliance.

+ Coordinate and take part in project appraisal and closure process including preparing relevant documentationsJreports, completion certificates, Final Accounts and smooth handing over ‘of the completed works to the respective Councils authorities.

Position Requirements:

A graduate in the building industry, preferably with Post-graduate in Building Economic (Quantity Surveyor).

Registration with Professional Boards will be an added advantage.

At least minimum of five (5) years working experience as construction supervisor/manager in a medium to large scale projects.

Demonstrated ability in analytical and negotiation skills, and a self motivated personnel.

Must be ready to work in rural areas and travel for more than fifty (50%) of his/her time

Well articulated in written and verbal communication for both languages (English and Kiswahili)

Knowledgeable and ability to use various computer programmes.
